Collezione Peggy Guggenheim Venice
The Collezione Peggy Guggenheim is a gallery containing art that is a vast change from the rest of the renaissance works displayed in Venice. Housed in the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, this excellent gallery hosts a multitude of European and American art from the first half of the 20th Century. Opened in 1951, the museum features the personal collection of Peggy Guggenheim, the niece of famous industrialist and architect Solomon Guggenheim.
The permanent collection of the museum holds over 300 astounding works by some of the world's most renowned artists, including masterpieces in Cubism, Surrealism and Abstract Impressionism. American artist Jackson Pollock has some important works on display here, including the fascinating Moon Woman. Also be sure to see Picasso's The Poet, Klee's Magic Garden and the various works of Spanish Surrealist Salvador Dali.
The museum is home to a wonderful sculpture garden, which holds examples by Caro, Mirko, Moore and Arp. The museum also holds a collection on long-term loan from the renowned Gianni Mattioli Collection. These include the beautiful Materia by Boccioni, as well as works by Balla, Rosai and Depero.
