Galleria Dell'Accademia Venice
Housed inside the Galleria Dell'Accademia is the most outstanding collection of Venetian art in the world, most of which is from the 13th to 18th centuries. Housed within the former church of Santa Maria della Carita and the adjoining Scuola, the gallery was first opened in 1750. Spend a day walking through the buildings' 24 rooms, and you are sure to leave enthralled.
The first rooms of the gallery hold works of Venetian Gothic art, as well as other renaissance styles. Included here is Giovanni Bellini's Madonna Enthroned with Child, Saints and Angels and Giorgione's La Tempesta.
Moving along you will come across the breathtaking works of Lorenzo Lotto and Paolo Veronese. Also be sure to search out Carpaccio's Crucifixion and Apotheosis. Master painter and one of Venice's most beloved sons Titian has many works on display here as well, including the famous and beautiful Pieta, as well as The Presentation of the Virgin.
