Venice Gondola
One of the things that absolutely must be experienced while visiting Venice is a ride in a gondola. These sleek, shiny boats can be seen drifting lazily down all of the city's canals, and there is no better way to see the city than from the water.

There is no shortage of Gondolas to take you on a ride, it's a easy as just stepping down to one of the docks and arranging a ride with one of the many Gondoliers. These rides do not come cheap, but after cruising down the canals for a few minutes you will be quick to realize that it is money well spent. Many of the gondoliers are also excellent tour guides, and will be able to tell you interesting historical facts and little-known details about certain areas of the city.

While you can take a gondola ride at any time during the day, the most romantic time is at nightfall when the city becomes bathed in a soft glow, and the buildings cast ghostly shadows on the calm water. Pair this up with a fine dinner afterwards of delicious fresh pasta and wine, and you're sure to have a night to remember!
